Do your feet feel the need to move in the Latino beat? Are you a salsa, bachata, mambo, reggaeton lover? Don't miss the opportunity to dance the night away with Cafe Mezclao in KUD France Prešeren. Cafe Mezclao is a band composed of Cuban, Colombian and Slovenian musicians, playing a hot mix of Latin sounds, from traditional to modern, adding them a bit of their own soul and style. The guys say, they've closed themselves in the kitchen and started cooking, adding different ingridients and flavours, boiling it for a while, until they got the perfect mixture of pure energy and fun. So come join the party and get the taste of Cuba!

Thursday, 17. 5. 2012 KUD FRANCE PREÅ EREN 21:00, entrance 5/7ˆ

View the full article

GJ REPORT: PASSIONATE AND WILD WORLDLY SAVAGES

Not long ago we had an opportunity to listen to a young and passionate group called Worldly Savages, which made a short stop on their European tour at KUD France Prešeren. In spite of a very small audience that came to the concert, we witnessed an explosion of energy, good mood and expert musicians. The band showed us how they felt about our small numbers from the beginning. They poured all their raw energy, knowledge and creativity into their music, trying to ignite that sparkle in the audience which is so vital for an ending full of applause and repetitions. The mixture of wild punk rhythms and melodic folk music filled, the otherwise almost empty hall, with dancing and singing. The public loved their theatrically coloured concert, full of changing rhythms, dictated by the rhythm section, while the violin and the harmonium accompanied the gogolbordellolike voice of the singer Erik Mut. We would especially like to mention the violin player Ula Donnelly, who spiced up the already very emotional performance with bursts of pure creativity and finished off with a practically destroyed bow. We don't dare to imagine how the evening would finish in a hall full of people. Anyway, against all warnings we did get infected with good mood and our inner beast went home fulfilled!

Foto Tjasulja

View the full article

GJ REPORT: ELECTRIC NAUSEOUS

The first among the Gipsy Jungle's Francetov spring trio was a duet formed for the occasion by a tech-mixed-media artist Marko Batista Sko and a saxophone player Andrej Vernik Vero presenting their project Electric Nauseous. An experimental and a one time only performance in which they showed us their more anarchic and original side, creating an electronic charged atmosphere intertwined with the experimental use of the saxophone. The musicians let their creativity lose with the help of different methods, like the saxophone-formed percussion in the intro, the jazzy follow-up while Marko, among other things, slowly poured sand on the sensors, reminding us of the soft scratching sound of an old vinyl record. In the last theme they created a sort of pyramid like effect, producing simultaneous live recordings of the saxophone, adding them to new recordings, reproducing them again, recording and adding again and so on... The audience was well entertained while enjoying this innovative and different way of pure musical investigation and development!

Photo Tjasulja

View the full article

WORLDLY SAVAGES (GB) ARE ON THEIR WAY!

A very special kind of savages will take over KUD France Prešeren next Wednesday (25th of April). Worldly Savages (GB) are comig to town and they are bringing their contageous blend of folk-punk energy with ethno music spiciness with them. They describe it as wild music with a strong message: fight boring post-modernity! Who wouldn't agree with that. And what better way to fight it, than with music. The alpha beast of the heard is Erik Mut, a Canadian of German, Slavic and Celtic roots. His songs often criticize today's materialism, and emphasis the desire to bring joy out of the sadness and celebrate life as it is, despite everything. So beware - listening to Worldly Savages can easily lure you into an uncontrolled dancing and attract a permanent smile on your face. Highly contageous!

Wednesday, 25. 4. KUD France PreÅ¡eren 21:00, entrance: 5ˆ pre-sale, 7ˆ concert day

View the full article
